The starting wage for this position is $18.50 per hour with a comprehensive and competitive benefits package. This position is eligible for a Spanish proficiency pay differential.
SCHEDULE Full‑time; Monday through Friday (8:15 am – 5:45 pm) and every other Saturday morning (8:30 am – 12:15 pm). Average of 40 hours per week.

TRAINING AND CAREER PATH When starting out as a Retail Banker at Hills Bank, you will be set up to succeed through a designated career path and detailed training program. The path begins with foundational and teller training, followed by banker training. You will begin shadowing an experienced co‑worker, then be shadowed until you feel comfortable and confident providing quality service. Upon demonstrating proficient teller skills, you will advance into banker training, covering opening accounts (RB1), credit cards and consumer loans (RB2), and home equity loans (RB3). RESPONSIBILITIES SCOPE Provide superior service to customers while meeting their financial needs through a variety of retail banking functions. Focus on mastering skills needed to effectively manage customer relationships and provide basic retail banking services.
ACCOUNTABILITIES Service Requests
Handle all typical banking transactions presented by customers in person, through drive‑up, via night depository, mail, or digitally.
Handle cash and maintain an individual cash drawer to meet customer requests.
Assist customers with entry into safe‑deposit boxes, ensuring all procedures are properly followed.
Handle maintenance and service requests and customer inquiries regarding existing accounts and services.
Identify banking needs and recommend solutions for prospective and current customers.
New Accounts
Support the Bank’s sales efforts through direct sales of consumer banking products and related services.
Acquire necessary product, compliance, and systems knowledge to accurately and efficiently open deposit accounts and complementary services such as checking, savings, money market accounts, certificates of deposit, and safe‑deposit boxes.
Complete training and begin handling credit card and consumer lending requests.
Ensure new accounts and relationships are properly onboarded.
Relationship Management
Develop, manage, and grow customer relationships through ongoing contacts, recognition of key life events, needs‑based cross‑selling, etc.
Work within defined banking processes, such as customer service expectations, the 5‑Step Retail Banking Conversation Model, Quarterly Action Plans, and New Relationship/New Account Onboarding.
Utilize the bank’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to plan and personalize customer interactions.
Proactively reach out to customers through phone, direct mail, email, and app campaigns.
Acquire knowledge about bank products and services and refer customers appropriately, following up on hand‑offs or referrals.
Other Duties
Actively participate in office or bank events.
Maintain educational and professional expertise through attendance at internal and/or external educational opportunities.
Be a Notary Public.
Support community activities as expected of Hills Bank employees.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required. Associate’s degree (AA) from a two‑year college or technical school, or bachelor’s degree preferred.
Prefer 1 or more years of experience in a related position.
Dexterity to count money.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Must satisfy the SAFE Act, including registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry and maintaining the unique identifying number.
Must successfully complete all training and evaluation requirements in the Retail Banker Career Path.
Must work additional evening and Saturday hours as required.
Participate in at least 3 bank‑sponsored or community events annually.
