Ready to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Wyomingites? The Department of Workforce Services is looking for a Claims Specialist who thrives on precision, problem-solving, and professional advocacy to join our team in Casper.
As a subject matter expert in administrative law appeals, you serve as the essential bridge between complex legal processes and the people who need them. In this role, you won’t just be processing paperwork; you will exercise independent judgment to ensure every claimant and employer receives exceptional customer service. You will work with a dedicated vibrant team to facilitate the administrative law hearing process. To excel as a Claims Specialist, you will leverage a sophisticated toolkit of expertise to ensure justice and efficiency for the citizens of Wyoming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Leading the Process : Acquiring, analyzing, and processing claims appeals at a subject matter expert level.
Facilitating Justice : Process appeals and help draft critical documents, when needed.
Empowering the Public : Answering complex questions from claimants and employers regarding unemployment insurance.
Collaborating with Experts : Working closely with Hearing Officers and claims staff to determine jurisdictional issues and prepare parties for their hearings.
PREFERENCE Preference may be given to those who have good customer service experience and are detailed oriented, multi-task capable, and have the ability to prioritize.
Preference may be given to those with good communication skills both orally and written.
Preference may be given to a Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) or Paralegal.
KNOWLEDGE
Navigate Complex Frameworks : Apply your deep understanding of federal and state laws, codes, and policies to ensure every case stands on a solid legal foundation.
Administrative Law Expert : Become the authority on technical processes and procedures specifically related to administrative law and unemployment insurance.
Compliance Champion : Master the intricate regulations, practices, and procedures that govern employment programs to maintain the highest standards of integrity.
Evidence-Driven Research : Use advanced research methods to uncover critical facts and provide clarity for complex appeals.
Operational Architect : Utilize your knowledge of process workflows and peer-review practices to keep the Appeals Section moving smoothly and efficiently.
Elite Customer Service : Deploy specialized techniques to provide a high level of support, guiding claimants and employers through the appeals process with clarity and empathy.
Precision Record-Keeping : Apply rigorous principles of reporting and record-keeping to ensure every hearing is documented with total accuracy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education : Bachelor's Degree
Experience : 0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution : 3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : None
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to work in busy office environment.
