How You Will Create An Impact
This role is your opportunity to drive profitable growth in Financial Lines by working on creative solutions for complex risks.
You will be responsible for underwriting a range of new and renewal business, using your proven relationship‑building skills.
Work closely with brokers to communicate risk appetite and our value proposition, understand deal structures, negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with brokers and clients.
Generate new business by expanding your broker network, attending broker events, and building new relationships across the market.
Collaborate with AIG Distribution and underwriters in other business lines to target desirable accounts and cross‑selling opportunities.
Set a high standard of customer service to brokers and clients, providing an example for junior colleagues.
Evaluate risks, quote and issue financial lines policies to increase production on profitable lines of business.
Negotiate internally and externally the underwriting of accounts, analyze financial statements, applications and other supporting documents; request additional information from brokers when relevant.
Determine the acceptability of the risk and appropriate premium for coverage offered following established underwriting guidelines.
Provide support in training brokers and insureds about our products.
Contribute to operational efficiencies.
Any related tasks or projects requested or required by AIG.
What You’ll Need To Succeed
Bachelor’s degree in business administration (Accounting, Finance, or related area) or equivalent education and experience.
Proven exposure to underwriting concepts and experience.
Proficiency in Adobe and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish – verbal, written, negotiation, networking, and relationship building.
Good organizational and time‑management skills.
Customer‑ and sales‑oriented behaviors: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.
Analytical thinking and strategic viewpoint to manage complex clients.
