Louisiana Station Cogeneration Facility supporting the ExxonMobil Baton Rouge refinery is recruiting for an Operations and Maintenance Technician – Electrician. This position is responsible for preventive maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of plant electrical equipment in a steam-generating power plant. This role also supports planning by purchasing replacement parts and coordinating with the scheduler to ensure timely completion of work.
Job Responsibilities
Install, modify, repair, and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment used in steam and power stations
Use hand tools, power tools, and test equipment to maintain electrical systems and distribution networks
Operate heavy equipment as needed (forklifts, man lifts, etc.)
Maintain logs and record labor, materials, and equipment used
Perform routine maintenance on medium‑voltage switchgear, 480 V MCCs, burner management systems, electric motors, and actuators.
Wire machines and electrical panels according to prints
Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and diagrams
Apply electrical and mechanical knowledge to diagnose and restore equipment malfunctions
Work independently or as part of a team to complete projects and system upgrades
Respond promptly to emergencies
Must be available for late hours, overnight shifts, weekends, and callouts
Required Skills / Knowledge
Strong knowledge of industrial safety rules and electrical regulations
Mechanical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Effective communication skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills with attention to deadlines
Proficiency in reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
Understanding of PLC and DCS controls.
Ability to work well with diverse teams
Experience
Minimum 3 years as an industrial electrician; power plant experience preferred
Ability to understand complex drawings and diagrams
Apprenticeship or formal training is a plus
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required
State certification, license, or equivalent qualification
Physical Requirements
Willing to work 12‑hour shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed
Able to work in noisy, hot/cold, humid, and dirty environments
Frequent walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, pushing, and pulling
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
Repetitive movements required (twisting, bending, gripping, tool use)
