The Preconstruction Manager leads all estimating services throughout the preconstruction phase, from initial programmatic intent to pricing for construction documents on assigned projects. This role ensures accurate estimates, delivers value engineering, and presents findings to internal and external stakeholders, embodying The HITT Way.
Responsibilities
Provide a comprehensive suite of estimating services with minimal oversight.
Estimate a variety of building types across multiple projects.
Manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Present technical and financial information to stakeholders, including updates on previous figures.
Work primarily in an office setting while making site visits as needed; wear required safety equipment on job sites.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (required).
5–7 years of related work experience, with at least 2 years in estimating.
Strong skills in reading construction drawings, written and verbal communication, attention to detail, technical analysis, market and trade trend evaluation, and geotechnical report interpretation.
Experience coordinating with stakeholders (developers, architects, subcontractors, and HITT Operations) during the design‑assist process, including attending design meetings.
Capability to provide oversight to an Assistant Preconstruction Manager/Estimator.
Decision‑making under tight deadlines with incomplete data, business acumen, partnership building, risk analysis, and document distribution without administrative support.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel), OnScreen Take‑off (OST), Adobe products (including Bluebeam), and optional Building Connected.
Demonstrated integrity consistent with company values.
Salary & Benefits In accordance with California’s Labor Code Section 432.3, the base salary range for this position is $110,000.00–$159,500.00. Compensation may vary in other cities and states. HITT Contracting offers competitive benefits, including performance‑based bonuses, premium health coverage (vision and dental), employer‑matched 401(k), a wellness reimbursement program, paid holidays, time‑off, and other voluntary benefits.
