PRIDE Industries Job Description Job: Small Engine Mechanic Job Code: 780 - TL-Small Engine Mechanic SCA Occup: 23910 Small Engine Mechanic Salary Grade: Federal Wage Determination or Collective Bargaining Agreement FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Approval Date: March 2017 POSITION SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Small Engine Mechanic repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power landscape equipment, compressors, generators, pumps, and similar machines in accordance with trade standards.

TYPICAL DUTIES

Repairs gasoline and diesel engines used to power lawnmowers, garden tractors, weed whackers, chainsaws, blowers, chippers, edgers, snow removal equipment and similar tools/equipment.

Uses hand tools, locates causes of trouble, dismantles engines, and inspects/examines parts for defects;

Replaces or repairs parts, such as rings and bearings;

Cleans and adjusts carburetors and magnetos, starts repaired engines and listens to sounds to test performance;

Where required, occasionally performs maintenance welder job duties;

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum one year related work experience, five years preferred

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, and to respond to questions from vendors, customers and management

Comply with PRIDE’s safety program and adhere to proper safety practices

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED

CERTIFICATES OR LICENSES REQUIRED The following licenses or certificates may be required depending on local, state and/or contract requirements:

Valid Driver's License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Maneuvering in and around equipment

Bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, crawling

Pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 35 pounds

May be required to climb ladders and/or step stools

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed at a customer’s location in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environment. May require driving to and from worksite locations. Equipment can be located in crawl spaces, rooftops, and outside facility. Employees may be exposed to hazardous and/or toxic substances, electrical shock, noise from equipment, and depending on external weather conditions, wind, rain, cold, and heat.
