Job Description The primary purpose of this position is to support the underwriting function through customer service and rating and processing of underwriting files. This person works under direct supervision but also capable of taking some independent action and may have some limited underwriting authority following standard processing procedures. The role assists the underwriting team in processing and reviewing new and renewal business, riders, cancellations, and reinstatements for agents in accordance to established underwriting guidelines. Works closely with more experienced underwriters and participates in review, evaluation, selection, triage, renewal quoting, etc. to further develop underwriting skills and free up some of the underwriter’s time so they can concentrate on more complex risks. Provides excellent customer service, develops strong customer service skills. Triages incoming business according to underwriting criteria and prepares referrals to the appropriate underwriter if request is beyond their authority or scope.

Job Requirements

Four‑year college degree (with insurance work experience and excellent academic credentials) or successful completion of at least two years as an Underwriting Technician.

Successful advancement towards any one of the following designations preferred: CPCU and/or RPLU or ASLI.

Proven written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to interact and sell to internal and external customers.
