Responsibilities

Assist the Superintendent with planning, directing, and coordinating construction activities performed by the project team and subcontractors.

Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, project team members, and field.

Ensure LEE’s standards of quality, professionalism, and safety are adhered to by proactively leading by example, from project start to closeout.

Build positive relationships with clients, design professionals, vendors, and subcontractors through collaboration and proactive communication.

Handle and resolve unexpected challenges with a resourceful, problem‑solving mindset and highest level of professionalism.

Leverage technology systems to provide a unique client experience, increasing client knowledge, improving communication, and increasing efficiencies.

Ensure adherence to our Safety for Life culture by exhibiting a strong safety focus; communicate the company mission, vision, and values to coworkers and trade partners.

Lee Building Company works on projects within a 60‑mile radius of Charlottesville.

Job Requirements

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.

At least 4 years of recent experience as Foreman or Assistant Superintendent on commercial construction projects of $2.0 million or larger.

Ability to read, understand, and interpret building plans, construction contracts, and project specifications.

Technical knowledge of building construction means, methods, and systems.

Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Project, and experience or ability to learn industry‑specific tools such as Procore.

Proven leadership skills with ability to communicate a plan, motivate others, instill company values, and accomplish objectives as a team.

Ability to maintain a positive attitude, professional demeanor, and perform well under project constraints and deadlines.

Ability to retain flexibility while still providing consistency.

Strong written and oral communication skills; collaborative problem‑solving approach.

Strong organization and attention to detail; ability to plan and prioritize project objectives.

Demonstrate learning orientation and willingness to pursue educational and training opportunities.

Commitment to high ethical standards and sound business practices, upholding core values of pioneering, honorable, professional.

Maintain a clean and accessible work site, office space, signage, and identification in excellent condition.

Strong safety focus; knowledge to identify and anticipate safety hazards, ensuring subcontractors align with Safety for Life culture.
