Job Summary
The
Phlebotomist III – Float
serves as the face of the organization to patients while providing high-quality phlebotomy services across multiple locations. This role supports Patient Service Centers (PSC), in-office practices, mobile services, and long-term care settings as business needs dictate. The position requires advanced phlebotomy expertise, strong customer-facing skills, and the ability to lead, coach, and support staff in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
Key Responsibilities
Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures Provide coverage across multiple locations, including PSCs, physician offices, mobile sites, and long-term care facilities Ensure daily activities are completed accurately and on time in all assigned locations Explain procedures clearly while creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence for patients Perform pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections Step in to lead on-site operations and direct daily activities when required Act as a coach, mentor, and instructor for new employees and support onboarding activities Serve as a point of contact for on-site staff and provide feedback to group leads or supervisors Support high-complexity and high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics Handle multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume environment Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and strict attention to confidentiality and accuracy
Required Experience
Five (5) years of phlebotomy experience required , including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections Experience working in high-volume patient service environments
Nice-to-Have Experience
Minimum of 3 years in a PSC or in-office practice environment Customer service experience in a retail or service setting
Required Skills
Advanced phlebotomy and specimen collection Patient interaction and customer service Leadership, mentoring, and multitasking
Preferred Skills
Float and mobile phlebotomy experience Cross-functional communication and problem-solving Training and onboarding support
Education & Certification
High school diploma or equivalent
required Medical assistant or paramedic training
preferred Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program required Phlebotomy certification

Availability:
Monday–Friday between
5:30 AM – 5:00 PM Alternate Saturdays as required Must be able to float between
Avon, Bloomfield, Unionville, Bristol, and Plainville
