Position Summary Director of Pharmacy – Perlmutter Cancer Centers and Ambulatory Services. Manage all facets of Pharmacy service provided to Outpatient Infusion and Ambulatory Care Areas of the NYU Langone Medical Center. Direct pharmaceutical services by monitoring and evaluating the appropriateness and quality of patient care services provided at the NYU Langone Medical Center Outpatient Infusion Clinics. Ensure safe handling of cytotoxic hazardous agents and biohazardous materials and ensure legal and licensing requirements are fulfilled as defined by Federal laws, State laws, the State Board of Pharmacy, and other governing bodies. Provide guidance and promote staff development and growth through educational programs for future career opportunities to pharmacy staff at all outpatient infusion sites.

Job Responsibilities

Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Service Standards and incorporates them into the performance of duties.

Collaborates with the NYU Langone Medical Center Pharmacy management team in the achievement of Organizational Goals.

Active planning and implementation and management of automated systems and computerization.

Active participation as a voting member in the NYU Langone Medical Center Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. Regularly reports on Medication Management issues affecting the Cancer Center. Coordinates the Cancer Center Clinical Services Committee with the Patient Care Service Director of the Cancer Center.

Participates in center wide quality assurance activities to more effectively deliver quality patient care with optimal outcomes. Works collaboratively with Medical Center, participating on key pharmacy committees as the Cancer Center liaison.

Assumes fiscal responsibility for managing the procurement and charges associated with medications and other operational issues affecting expenses for the department, including annual preparation of department budget for the above pharmacies. Directs the collaboration with other departments to identify new ways of delivering quality patient care in a cost effective manner.

Directs the preparation, handling, and dispensing of both chemotherapeutic agents and all other non‑chemotherapeutic agents dispensed for treatment. Assures appropriate safety check procedures are followed for protection of patients and personnel. Ensures compliance with clinical trial protocols and investigational drug regulations. Supervises annual staff competencies related to drug preparation and safety.

Directs the provision of specific drug information and teaching to physicians, nurses, and patients by Staff Pharmacist and Pharmacy Supervisors. Provides teaching and participates in continuing education programs to NYU Langone Cancer Center personnel. Supervises Pharmacy Extern College of Pharmacy educational activity.

Reviews, interprets, troubleshoots and resolves problems and processes related to both the outpatient pharmacy department and staff. Maintains quality control indicators to assure that patients will receive the optimum drug therapy with appropriate review in a timely and safe manner.

Directs the appropriateness, quality, safety, and fulfillment of requirements mandated by governing bodies are handled by highly competent and motivated staff. Leadership and supervision of about 25 FTEs made up of Pharmacy Supervisors, Staff Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy interns / Externs.

Directs the provision Pharmacy services other Article 28 Ambulatory Care Facilities of NYU Langone Medical Center. These will be serviced by the Pharmacy assigned by the Director of Ambulatory Care Services and the Senior Director of Pharmacy.

Management of all pharmacy operations at the NYU Langone Cancer Center Pharmacy, Hassenfeld Children's Cancer Center Pharmacy, Ambulatory Care Center Pharmacy, CMC Pharmacy. Planning and implementation of new Ambulatory Care sites.

Minimum Qualifications Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education. Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of NY. Minimum of five years oncology experience as a Registered Pharmacist. Minimum of ten years supervisory experience in a clinical setting. Relevant knowledge and experience in outpatient oncology/infusion services and hospital outpatient departments.

Preferred Qualifications PharmD Degree or Advanced Graduate Degree in Hospital Administration, BCOP Certification.

Salary Range NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $146,384.38 - $252,513.46 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
