Director of Environmental Studies and Permitting Salary Range: $120,000 to $150,000 (Depending on experience)

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and direction to the Environmental Group

Manage projects within the Environmental Group

Project management support, including leading field assignments, task coordination, and document control and organization

Assist with Business Development activities by meeting with potential new clients, maintaining existing relationships, and preparing proposals.

Participate in professional service organizations.

Analyze and report on environmental issues in human and natural systems. This may include social and economic issues, natural resource studies, wetlands field investigations, and threatened/endangered species and habitat studies.

Support field investigations and prepare reports on various environmental matters.

Qualifications:

Minimum of B.S. in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Geography, Environmental Sciences/Studies, or allied (natural/physical environmental resources) disciplines, or Engineering.

10+ years of experience serving as an Environmental Lead and leading Environmental Assessments.

Completion of NHI course #142005, "NEPA & the Transportation Decision‑making Process" or comparable ≥ 18‑hour course preferred.

Familiarity with NEPA and its processes.

Familiarity with natural resources, wetlands, threatened/endangered species field investigations.

Familiarity with environmental permitting (US Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish and Wildlife Service, US Environmental Protection Agency) preferred.

Knowledge of aquatic biology, including fish, mussels, SELDM, and aquatic invertebrates, is a plus.

Excellent technical writing skills.

Working knowledge of ArcGIS.

Experience with State DOTs and/or local agencies.

Transportation industry experience is a plus.
