Position Summary Responsible for picking, packing, shipping, and receiving tools, merchandise, and parts orders for various distribution needs. Processes shipping, picking, and packing lists, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other related records while adhering to assigned work instructions and required shipping methods to meet schedules. Follows established procedures for handling tool and parts inventory.

Duties & Responsibilities

Perform receiving, picking, packing, and shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper condition of shipments

Process stock and ship products in accordance with standardized logistical processes

Perform loading and unloading operations in compliance with receiving and shipping specifications

Conduct inventory-related processes, including inventory counts and cycle counts

Operate various types of material handling equipment and maintain forklift certification

Participate in Lean Production initiatives within the organization

Maintain required logs and reports for the Warehouse Supervisor

Move shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage and work areas as directed

Work with company software and computer systems to process orders and inventory

Follow all safety rules and guidelines

Report directly to the Warehouse Supervisor in the Shipping and Receiving area

Carry out responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws

Receive, pick, pack, and ship various types of Ames products, tools, merchandise, and parts

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or more than one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Communication & Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals

Ability to read and write routine documents and correspondence

Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all company levels

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions

Ability to solve problems involving a limited number of variables in standardized situations

Physical Requirements

Regular standing and walking

Frequent use of hands for handling, fingering, reaching, and operating equipment

Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling

Frequent lifting and/or moving of up to 100 pounds

Vision abilities including close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts

Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock

Noise level is usually loud
