Summary:
Responsible for directing and supervising the ash and APC operators to ensure the facility is operated and maintained in a clean, safe and efficient manner.
Essential Functions
Supervises labor support in all areas within the facility including housekeeping, cleaning and maintenance.
Coordinates and plans work schedules of ash and APC equipment operators. Provides direction and assigns work.
Manages the operation of the ash house to ensure the flow of ash allows all desired operation of the boilers.
Operates other equipment including industrial forklifts, manlifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.
Works closely with the Operations and Maintenance Managers and the H&S Director to meet the facility’s safety and operational goals.
Assigns day‑to‑day tasks to ash equipment operators, monitors work and reports unusual circumstances to facility manager.
Ensures the proper disposal of ash, mud, gravel, garbage and other materials.
Prepares facility for group visits.
Coordinates activities of designated vendors/contractors when on‑site.
Serves as the Facility Manager’s representative during periods when Upper Management is not on site.
Maintains and enforces Company policies and procedures, environmental compliance, safety and health.
Creates work requests through Tabware.
Makes frequent rounds of the facility to ensure proper operation of equipment, materials storage and handling, facility security, cleanliness, safety, and environmental compliance.
Corrects safety and environmental hazards and makes certain that all equipment operators have and use proper personal protective and other safety equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Completes the Corporate and Facility Training Programs within the time frame prescribed.
Follows standard safety procedures, corrects safety and environmental hazards, reads, understands, and implements lockout/tagout, safety rules, job hazard analyses, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Communicates clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing; as well as communicates clearly whether using in‑situ intercom system, two‑way radio or face to face.
Anticipates typical problems, identifies potential or recurring problems, and takes appropriate action. Troubleshoots equipment and assists in diagnosing problem areas.
Education / Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree, or equivalent in a technical degree program is desirable.
Knowledge and understanding of the trash fired, mass burn, steam powered generating facility.
Understanding of all facility auxiliary systems and equipment operation.
Understands facility hazards, company safety procedures and is proficient in the use of safety equipment, including fire protection equipment.
One to three years related experience applying technical skills sufficient to perform routine tasks such as handling efficiently hand tools, power tools, and operating motorized equipment.
Two years of experience directing and guiding 4 or more employees in a power facility, manufacturing, warehousing or other similar facilities.
Mechanical skills sufficient to perform routine tasks such as opening vessel and equipment access doors, placing and removing furnace access equipment, overhead protection and staging, operating power tools, and performing minor mechanical repairs to facility equipment or structures.
Computer Skills
