is looking for a dedicated associate to join our team as an Assistant Deli Bakery Manager in store 02260. This full‑time position focuses on ensuring excellent customer service and product quality while supporting business operations.
Primary Purpose Support the management and operations of the store to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy, maintaining communication with the management team and throughout the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, supervising the performance of all Deli Bakery HMS Associates.
Daily labor management (live time) and coaching of associates to achieve productivity expectations.
Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture.
Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results.
Maintain a friendly, enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, emphasizing fast, flexible, and friendly service to create a positive shopping experience.
Role model outstanding customer service and use knowledge of department products to offer solutions that meet or exceed customers' expectations.
Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment.
Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems.
Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety, and sanitation are consistently maintained.
Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules to provide extraordinary customer service at all times, creating schedules on a bi‑weekly basis.
Ensure correct ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and displaying of merchandise per policies and guidelines.
Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause associate or customer accidents.
Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and record/report accidents per Food Lion procedures.
Monitor shrink and coach associates to recognize and prevent losses.
Ensure all advertising and sales promotion materials for the Deli Bakery HMS are properly utilized.
Adhere to all company guidelines, policies and standard practices.
Maintain security standards and a neat, well‑groomed personal appearance at all times, complying with dress code.
Successfully complete Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet and Training Aid courses.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Perform all other duties assigned.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Ability to lead and manage a team.
Strong understanding of store operations and merchandising techniques preferred.
Effective communication, customer service, and selling skills.
Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
Ability to use technical information to solve problems.
Minimum age requirement to perform specific job functions.
Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or a similar accrediting organization as a “Certified Food Safety Manager,” or be required to attend company‑provided training and achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment; accreditation must be maintained while employed.
Physical Requirements
Use computers and communication systems required for job functions.
Push or pull up to 2000 pounds using a pallet jack.
Bend and lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. on occasion; pull or push up to 75 lbs. on occasion.
Stand 100% of the time with frequent walking over short distances.
Handle a variety of substances associated with cleaning and packaging materials and household cleaners.
Perform repetitive hand and arm motions.
Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level, occasionally above shoulder or below waist.
Meet established volume activity standards for the position.
Tolerate working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time.
Have sufficient visual ability to check invoices and other written documents.
