Overview Handling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations requires a blend of technical knowledge and practical experience. As a Sales and Use Tax Manager in EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will build and apply expertise on a wide range of recovery projects for clients across multiple industries. In this role you will receive support from a collaborative team, dedicated mentors, and training programs designed to accelerate your professional growth.
Your Key Responsibilities
Research client business operations and build long‑lasting relationships.
Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions.
Discover potential overpayment opportunities, assess risks, and communicate findings to clients.
Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims.
Participate in a motivated team of professionals and ensure team members have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline.
Professional knowledge of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools.
Experience managing budgets, people and projects.
Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
Ability to prioritize multiple complex projects.
Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes.
Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
Preferred
Achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or state bar membership.
What We Offer We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including a US nationwide base salary range of $105,100 to $192,600 ($126,100 to $218,900 in NYC, Washington, and CA (excl. Sacramento)). Range is influenced by education, experience, geography and performance. Total rewards include medical, dental, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off.
