Community Outreach Specialist

Key Responsibilities
Instructs community members in various programs in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and community leaders; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
Conveys information on programs and schedules and as appropriate refers participants to other programs.
Maintains records as required (i.e. schools/facilities attended, number of participants, etc.).
Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum age of 18
Certifications: ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro) and ASHI Basic First Aid certification (pre-requisites)
Must be energetic and adaptable. The ideal candidate will be comfortable speaking in front of large crowds and instructing youth.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Advanced Training or related college courses required.
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required (or willingness to obtain within the first 30 days of employment).
Experience
Experience working in a community-focused organization preferred.
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to design and deliver engaging and effective presentations.
Ability to motivate and inspire individuals of all demographics.
Work Environment
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
