Position Summary Incumbent is responsible for the direction of system‑wide financial planning and analysis (FP&A) across the UCI academic health system. This includes establishing and directing the rhythm of business across the health system, facilitating the development, consolidation, and reporting/analysis of the annual operating and capital budgets, cost accounting and service‑line financials, labor benchmarking and productivity, and FP&A data/process/systems enablement. Provides vital financial analysis, planning, and performance monitoring services that support the organization’s short‑ and long‑term tactical and integrated strategic and financial planning efforts.
What It Takes to Be Successful Required Qualifications
Universal knowledge of general and fund accounting
Three or more years of management experience in finance in a healthcare or relevant setting
Strong working knowledge of process improvement principles and change management methods
Strong technical knowledge and skills in financial analysis, cost accounting, management accounting, reimbursement methodologies, and healthcare economics
Significant experience with financial planning and decision support systems (Strata, Epsi or Axiom)
Significant experience with decision support systems (Eclipsys Epsi, MedAssets, or McKesson)
Significant experience with and understanding of health care information technology, including clinical information systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Effective report writing and presentation skills
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
Bachelor’s degree
Ability to organize and prioritize work for self and others
Ability to develop financial and operational systems to accurately monitor and control organizational activities
Ability to accurately analyze complex financial and accounting data and effectively communicate it to a wide variety of executives, faculty, and other constituents in lay terms
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business administration, health administration, CPA, or other relevant degree program
Leadership or relevant management consulting experience in an academic medical center or complex teaching environment
