Job Summary:

The Director of Alumni Engagement for Affinity Connections leads efforts to strengthen alumni bonds through affinity-based programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Alumni Relations and Information Systems, this role manages day‑to‑day support for affinity networks and develops programming that promotes personal and professional development and connection with the assistance of the Affinity Programs Associate. The Director partners with alumni stakeholders, volunteer leaders, and campus colleagues to advance inclusion and belonging while cultivating meaningful and enduring engagement with the College. The successful candidate will be motivated by Bowdoin's mission and will have a high degree of cultural competency.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate affinity‑based alumni engagement initiatives.

Provide day‑to‑day support for affinity networks and assist the Affinity Programs Associate.

Collaborate with alumni stakeholders, volunteer leaders, and campus colleagues to advance inclusion and belonging.

Develop and implement programming that promotes personal and professional development for alumni.

Maintain relationships with alumni and foster enduring engagement with the College.

Monitor and evaluate affinity programs, using data to inform decisions and improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum 5–9 years of experience in alumni relations or volunteer management within higher education.

Strong cultural competency and commitment to inclusion and belonging.

Exceptional communication skills and ability to connect with multiple constituencies.

Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database management systems, email platforms, and virtual event platforms.

Standard Work Days and Hours:

Monday–Friday 8:30 am–5:00 pm, with occasional evening and weekend work as needed. This is an exempt position requiring commitment to complete essential duties.
