Overview The University of Northern Colorado (UNC) located in Greeley, Colorado, seeks qualified individuals for a Police Officer I role. The position is open to residents of the State of Colorado and requires current, valid Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certification. Responsibilities
Patrol campus to prevent or discover criminal activity.
Respond to calls for service concerning both criminal and non‑criminal activity.
Conduct field interviews of suspicious persons, investigate criminal actions, collect evidence, interview victims/witnesses/suspects, make arrests or detentions as appropriate.
Conduct traffic enforcement for motor vehicle violations and investigate motor vehicle accidents.
Prepare reports concerning all activity, including criminal actions for presentation to the district attorney and for University administrative action.
Testify in court and at University hearings.
Ensure all citations, forms and procedures are completed correctly and accurately.
Ensure all evidence is logged and stored properly.
Respond to medical emergencies and render first aid care until the arrival of paramedics.
Assist with gathering information about victims, conditions, histories and facts of injury.
Provide crowd control, assist with rescue, carry litter, operate special equipment, climb ladders and provide traffic direction/control as needed.
Provide assistance and support to the University Community through money escorts, crowd control at athletic events, security at concerts and parties, performing security surveys, and developing and presenting crime prevention programs.
Assist the Community of Greeley and Evans by participating in mutual aid activities with local police departments.
Assist with major motor vehicle accidents, traffic control, disturbances, riots, major criminal activity, investigations, parades and special events.
Respond to alarms (fire, intrusion, robbery, panic) for protection of lives and property, evacuate buildings, determine cause of alarm, and summon proper persons/agencies or correct the problem.
Participate in training, both in‑service and specialized, and maintain proficiency with firearms, arrest control, defensive tactics and first aid skills.
Perform other duties as assigned, including vehicle maintenance, delivery of documents, providing escorts, handling animal complaints.
Job offer is conditional upon successful completion of both a psychological and physical examination.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
Current, valid Colorado P.O.S.T. certification.
One year of experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position.
Substitutions:
Appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
