The
Fluid Power Sales Manager
at Applied Industrial Technologies works in the Fluid Power MRO team and uses strong management skills to lead a team of Fluid Power Specialists. The role blends coaching and mentoring of the team with acting as a business development partner to Account Managers located in our US Service Centers. Fluid Power Sales Managers grow business by leading others and also play the role of local, technical expert, building relationships with existing and new customers throughout their assigned territory. This critical role has a direct impact on our customer’s and Applied Industrial Technologies’ business results.
Core Responsibilities
Oversee, coordinate and hold team of Fluid Power Specialists accountable. Work closely with all levels of US Service Center personnel and other Applied Fluid Power resources in assigned geography to facilitate profitable share gain.
Hire, train and develop associates following company standards and policies. Champion leadership competencies.
Cooperatively create and execute an engagement plan with Fluid Power Specialists and local US Service Center sales teams targeting high potential accounts in assigned region, including local and strategic accounts, to achieve sales and profit goals. Coach and mentor the team in their efforts to execute these activities.
Lead by example; create a positive, dynamic, and fun work environment that delivers results.
Act as local, technical fluid power expert in the assigned region, facilitating technical supplier interactions with internal resources and customers.
Confer with customers, supplier representatives and internal resources to prepare and present fluid power solutions, reviewing installed solutions, drawings, plans and other customer documents to prepare technical proposals involving products and services offered.
Conduct fluid power training for both internal associates and customers to increase knowledge of Fluid Power and demonstrate expertise and value.
Develop professional working relationships with key supplier resources to specify products and systems that will enhance customer performance.
Coordinate projects with US Service Center personnel.
Assist development of the fluid power collaborative knowledge base, including applications, interchanges, case histories, documented value-added activities, market activities and competitor activities.
Position Requirements
7+ years of fluid power customer engagement and practical application experience (hydraulic and/or pneumatic) with at least 3 of those years in sales management.
Strong mechanical aptitude with a desire and passion to quickly learn new processes and systems.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and system schematics.
Ability to clearly communicate technical thoughts and solutions to multiple levels.
Familiar with MS Office including remote collaboration tools (e.g., video conferencing).
Strong written and verbal communication and English grammar skills.
Proven problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task and time management skills with a bias for action.
Preferred
Technical Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree, or extensive fluid power application experience.
International Fluid Power Society (IFPS) Certification.
Desired Characteristics

Excellent organization, oral and written communication, and time management skills.
