CS Recruiting
Our client is a fast‑growing freight brokerage with the agility of a startup and the strength of a multi‑billion‑dollar parent company. With a small, high‑performing team handling ~100 loads per month, they specialize in heavy haul, oversized flatbed, and cross‑border freight. They are expanding rapidly and looking to expand their team.
Carrier Sales Representative Job Type:
Full‑time; On‑site
Responsibilities
Source and secure qualified carriers for oversized, overweight, flatbed, heavy haul, and cross‑border loads.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing carriers while continuously expanding the network.
Strategically build capacity for new lanes, large projects, and long‑term opportunities.
Verify carrier compliance, safety ratings, and insurance before tendering loads.
Negotiate competitive rates with carriers while protecting margins and ensuring service quality.
Eventually assume responsibility for all pricing, including spot quotes, project pricing, and lane building.
Evaluate market conditions using DAT, Truckstop, and internal tools to provide accurate rate guidance.
Cover all loads tendered to the brokerage, ensuring the right carrier is selected for each shipment.
Handle light track & trace, proactively communicating updates to internal teams and customers.
Troubleshoot issues quickly — recovering loads, finding backup capacity, and problem‑solving under pressure.
Meet and exceed KPIs for margin, on‑time pickup/delivery, and carrier utilization.
Keep detailed, accurate notes in the TMS and maintain clean load documentation.
Collaborate closely with sales teams to support new business, RFPs, and special projects.
Experience
2–4 years of carrier sales experience within a freight brokerage environment.
Proven success in sourcing carriers and covering flatbed, oversized, or heavy haul loads.
Strong carrier relationships already established in the Midwest/South/Southwest preferred.
Proficiency with DAT load boards, rate analytics, and common brokerage tools.
Ability to negotiate, multitask, and solve complex transportation challenges in real time.
Competitive, resourceful, and relentless in finding solutions.
Strong communicator with a relationship‑first mindset.
Comfortable working in a startup‑style environment where processes are evolving and speed matters.
Ability to manage multiple shipments at once without sacrificing accuracy.
Thrives in a small, collaborative office setting with high visibility and direct impact.
This position offers a competitive base salary.
