Director of HR at Natural Gas Intelligence (NGI)
Overview:
An important member of our subscription sales team, the Account Manager is a key revenue owner within NGI’s subscription sales organization, responsible for retaining and growing a defined portfolio of customers. This role blends relationship management, data-driven account analysis, and consultative selling to ensure long‑term client success and sustained revenue growth.
Account Managers own the full post‑sale lifecycle for their accounts — from onboarding and adoption through renewal and expansion. Using customer health metrics such as product usage, tenure, penetration rate, and pricing analysis, they proactively identify renewal risks, uncover upsell opportunities, and drive account growth. The role also partners cross‑functionally to ensure an exceptional client experience.

Organizational Relationships:
This role reports to the Sr. Vice President of Sales and works cross‑functionally with the sales, customer service, and marketing teams.
Primary Responsibilities Account Management
Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for all assigned accounts.
Manage the full renewal lifecycle, including contract review, pricing strategy, annual fee increases, negotiation, and timely execution.
Proactively identify and mitigate renewal risk using customer health indicators such as product usage, tenure, engagement trends, and penetration rate.
Conduct regular business reviews with clients to align on value delivered, product adoption, and future needs.
Accurately forecast renewals, expansions, and churn risk within the CRM.
Revenue Growth & Upsell
Identify whitespace and growth opportunities within existing accounts through consultative conversations and data‑driven analysis.
Develop and execute account expansion strategies, including upsell and cross‑sell initiatives across NGI products and services.
Own and close expansion opportunities from discovery through contract execution.
Maintain a high‑quality pipeline of expansion opportunities and consistently meet or exceed retention and growth targets.
Customer Experience & Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Serve as a trusted advisor and escalation point for client questions, concerns, and feedback.
Partner with Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, Accounting and Product teams to improve onboarding, adoption, and retention.
Represent NGI at industry events and client meetings to strengthen relationships and identify new business opportunities.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Preferred Education, Experience & Skills
5+ years of sales experience
"Hunter" mindset with a competitive drive to meet and exceed sales quotas
Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills, comfortable discussing pricing, terms, and value with stakeholders at various levels
Successful track record of conducting consultative sales over the phone
Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills
Effective time management and a proactive team player
Creative cross‑functional collaborator who looks for opportunities to grow business and address market needs
Prior experience in the energy sector is a plus, but not a must – natural gas knowledge can be learned
