Base Pay Range $25.53/hr – $35.74/hr
Summary of Primary Functions Under limited direction will be responsible for the promotion of credit union products and services to members either on the telephone or in person. Provides counsel to new and existing members in regards to the various credit union services available. Performs credit analysis on assigned loan requests to make loan decisions within sound lending practices and regulatory requirements; including, not limited to, approve, decline, counter-offer and recommendations. May perform data entry for incoming loan requests. Coordinates with interviewers and/or members for follow‑up on new accounts until a final decision has been reached. Communicates consumer loan decisions and provides guidance and advice to members on credit performance. May also function as a Credit Union notary. Some duties may be performed by other staff as determined by management. Responsible for staying current with all applicable policies and procedures. Provides guidance, training, and support to department team members and to other departments as needed.
Skills and Abilities High school graduate or equivalent. Three years experience within a financial institution with demonstrated success in a sales environment.
Strong and thorough knowledge of consumer loan products and services, core system transactions and balancing functions, new accounts, member service, and other loan products. Ability to assist members with all credit union products and services. Effective organizational and communication skills, with an emphasis on positive member communication.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, the loan origination systems, and all related lending systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide excellent service to our members while consistently exhibiting the CARE philosophy in all interactions
Responsible for the promotion of credit union products and services
May assist with daily member inquiries, including, but not limited to, savings rates, loan rates, MasterCard accounts, and account inquiries
May answer member inquiries regarding credit union policies and procedures
Accepts incoming calls from members
Function as an expert, internal point of contact for questions regarding loan programs, qualifying for a loan and loan funding
Review and decision loan requests in a timely manner consistent with the organization’s service objectives
Follow‑up and advise staff or members of loan decisions
Provide basic and routine real estate information
Insure the completeness and accuracy of all documents received
Monitor incoming loan applications from all channels and work with staff and members to facilitate their loan transaction from origination through to funding in a timely manner that meets the Credit Union’s service objectives
May function as a loan interviewer or loan processor
Analyze credit report and credit scores based on the lending criteria of the credit union
Calculate income, obligations, and assets of members in accordance with credit union guidelines
Review and analyze basic personal and business tax returns
Review and analyze loan information for completeness and accuracy
Review and analyze loan documentation including, but not limited to, credit report, employment history, income verification
Identify and prevent potential fraud and overall risk to the credit union
Assure members debt ratio and discretionary income demonstrate a member’s ability to repay the loan
Makes every possible effort to approve loans for member within established credit union lending guidelines and adhere to regulatory requirements
Responsible for staying current with all applicable policies and procedures
May council members in regards to debt management
Council members on denial reasons and provide member with suggestions on how to improve their chances for future approval
May assist in loan administration to assure all loans are documented, collateralized, and closed according to credit union policies and procedures
May recommend loans for review to Credit Committee
Assist in internal and external audits as needed
Review and process incoming member communication; including but not limited to, voice mail, U.S. mail, and email
Supports management in attaining organizational goals and objectives
Participate in department and organization meetings as directed
Maintains member and other sensitive information with confidentiality
Provide support in various areas as needed
