Seasonal Director - Arts Position at YMCA of the Pines

A seasonal director is responsible for overseeing, leading, planning, and implementing the Arts department, supervising up to ten Art Specialists and teaching art classes to campers.

Responsibilities

Supervise all Art Specialists.

Provide instruction, supervision, and safety for all campers in the program area and cabins.

Observe Art Specialists’ classes and provide constructive feedback.

Ensure art lesson plans are submitted on time.

Approve all lesson plans and curriculum for arts activities, confirming they are age‑appropriate and meet standards.

Submit written performance evaluations of staff twice a summer.

Ensure adequate supplies and resources are available.

Assist campers with achieving their goals.

Assist with the trading post, evening activities, special events, and tractor rides.

Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day (check‑in/check‑out, mealtimes, activities, before/after‑hours duties).

Attend and participate in ad staff and all staff training.

Qualifications

Must be 20 years of age or older.

Ability to lead and instruct a group of staff and campers in the Arts program.

Knowledge of safety, care of equipment, inventory, skill instruction, and progressive age‑appropriate programming.

Ability to identify age and grade level characteristics of campers.

Previous camp experience or experience working with groups of children is preferred.

Training will be provided during Administration Staff Training and All Staff Training.
