Account Manager – Metal Stamping
Position Overview:
Thunderbird LLC recently acquired GMP Metal Products, an industry leader in deep draw metal stamping. We are looking for an Account Manager to sell our products. The ideal candidate should have a working knowledge of the metal fabrication process and a technical background to engage with customers. Territory focus is the lower Midwest and Southeast; preferred locations include Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, or Tennessee. The candidate will service this region and may be asked to extend beyond should opportunities arise.
Responsibilities
Drive profitable sales by researching and identifying new business opportunities for existing and new customers within currently served market segments.
Research and identify new business development opportunities within new market segments to further sales diversification objectives.
Assist with contract negotiations and pricing recommendations to maximize sales and margins; write proposals.
Create and implement strategic sales plans and annual forecasts for the designated customer base/region.
Develop ideas and opportunities that promote awareness of the company, including helping develop marketing materials and event planning.
Routinely communicate with and meet key customers to maintain and improve customer relationships.
Travel to promote key relationships and positively impact opportunities.
Interact constructively with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and other department staff members.
Required Experience
Demonstrated ability to understand customers’ business objectives and processes.
Demonstrated ability to understand the structure, pricing, and demand drivers with target markets.
Self‑starter, able to work independently with direction from management, managing time well.
Demonstrated ability to work with and support distributor sales in the territory.
Proven ability to understand the technical aspects of product performance for the target markets.
Effective organization, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
Proven written and communication skills.
Ability to work within the company and the customer cooperatively with different levels of organization function.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Conducts self with the highest ethical and moral standards.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute.
Highly motivated, results‑driven, and detail oriented.
Team player and able to multitask.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for dealing with customers, office staff, production, and vendors.
Competitive desire to succeed.
Position requires up to 25% travel.
Position requires onsite work.
