Position Overview
The Kitchen Manager/Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking for children, values healthy nutrition, and thrives in an organized, independent role.
Responsibilities
Prepare and serve daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks in accordance with Goddard School menus and USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines in a timely manner
Plan menus, order food, and manage inventory within budget
Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with local and state health regulations
Accommodate food allergies, dietary restrictions, and special meal plans
Complete required food production records and documentation
Collaborate with school leadership and teaching staff to support a positive school environment
Follow all Goddard School policies, procedures, and licensing requirements
Qualifications
Previous experience as a cook, chef, or kitchen manager (childcare, school, or healthcare setting preferred)
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Ability to manage time, multitask, and work independently
Passion for providing nutritious meals for children
Must meet all Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) childcare licensing requirements, including background checks
Food handler or food manager certification (or willingness to obtain)
Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted), bending, or standing for long periods of time.
