Education Manager, Community Programs & Engagement Roundabout Theatre Company, New York, NY

Responsibilities

Oversee administrative needs of Community Partnership programs, including pre‑production budgeting, scheduling, Teaching Artist payroll, and operational logistics.

Manage logistics of programming and residencies with partner organizations (e.g., Brooklyn Public Library, GreenThumb, Queens Public Library).

Develop and manage program assessment plans for in‑person programming (Artist Series, Community Residencies), assessing participant engagement and potential growth areas.

Serve as on‑site event staff and primary point of contact for community partnership programs.

Organize and support collaborative meetings with Roundabout leadership.

Manage development, implementation, and evaluation of new and existing partnerships and programming.

Attend non‑Roundabout events at partner organizations, arts education conferences, workshops, and related events.

Support events produced by other departments with outreach to partner organizations and attending events and related meetings.

Manage and produce logistics for audience engagement programs (Artist Series, Community Nights, Theatre Plus); process artist honorariums, Teaching Artist payroll, and vendor correspondence.

Schedule and facilitate regular meetings with Roundabout Teaching Artists.

Synthesize and maintain an ongoing, comprehensive theatre‑based activities calendar for Education and Development teams.

Facilitate communications for theatre‑based events with all relevant theatre staff and synthesize post‑event reports.

Coordinate accessibility services for engagement events.

Communicate artist requests to the Artistic team and track and distribute invitations for artist participation.

Support assessment and synthesis of data for Community Partnerships programs, audiences, and participants.

Maintain Tessitura records for community partner constituents and book tickets for community partners and participants.

Create, maintain, and update all marketing materials for Community Partnerships programming and events in coordination with Marketing.

Produce training and learning opportunities for Roundabout Teaching Artists.

Provide support to Education Staff for Career Training events, Student Matinees, and essential programming.

Report on opportunities for funders to observe activities and track budget expenses across all audience and community partnerships projects.

Contribute to development of financial and statistical reports and protocols for internal and external purposes.

Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years of experience in arts administration, event producing, or arts education—specifically producing in‑person community and audience engagement programs.

Excellent administrative and interpersonal skills, strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), QuickBooks, Tessitura, Adobe Creative Suite, CRM, and Form Assembly.

Some weekend and evening in‑person hours required (Community Nights evenings, Theatre Plus Saturday matinees).

Solutions‑oriented approach to assessing program goals and challenges.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Experience in civic engagement and/or community‑centered organizations or initiatives.

Team spirit and willingness to adapt to programmatic and organizational evolution.

Knowledge of designing and improving systems aligned with organizational priorities.

Experience building consensus with a broad range of partners, particularly committed to belonging and engaging respectfully with individuals from historically marginalized NYC neighborhoods.

General knowledge of all aspects of professional theatre.

Experience collaborating with people with disabilities a plus; digital production experience, grant writing, multilingual skills a plus.

Able to lift 20 lbs.

Salary and Benefits Annual salary $65,000 plus overtime; full‑time with standard benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401k 5% employer, PTO, LTD, life insurance).

Location and Hours Hybrid; in‑person work throughout NYC. Office on 3rd Floor Harold & Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre. General schedule Monday‑Friday 10 am‑6 pm with some weekend and evening hours required.
