GRANT-FUNDED POSITION Responsible for serving civil process and warrants, investigating criminal law violations and filing cases with the Justice Court and District Attorney. Responsible for courtroom security and safety and conducting building security.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Execute civil process, writs and warrants.

Assist the District Attorney's Office and Probation Department with making arrests.

Patrol area and maintain awareness of Precinct for crime prevention.

Provide enforcement at civil standbys.

Perform refuse and traffic enforcement.

Assist all law enforcement agencies.

Collect executions on judgments.

Prepare all court documents for return after execution.

Provide security for courthouse and act as court bailiff.

Maintain and secure the court room.

Assist the general public with information and direction in court or in the County facility.

Assist the court personnel in obtaining and securing jury services or sequestering a jury panel.

Conduct warrant checks or confirm warrants on defendants.

Provide security for all County buildings or departments in the Precinct as requested.

May perform some administrative duties for the Judge.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Strong understanding of law enforcement procedures and courtroom security

Ability to perform warrant execution and document handling

Skilled in public communication and assisting individuals in high-stress situations

Ability to remain alert and act quickly in security-related situations

Knowledge of civil and criminal procedures

Ability to operate law enforcement equipment and firearms proficiently

Excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Must be able to stay organized and know how to prioritize the workload.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Competency with computers and Microsoft Office 365 Suite.

Advanced analytical skills.

Demonstration of firearm proficiency

Preferred Requirements

Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or 60 hours of college and three (3) full-time years law enforcement experience -OR-

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and one (1) full time year law enforcement experience -OR-

High School diploma or GED and five (5) full-time years law enforcement experience -OR-

Any equivalent combination based on 30 college hours equaling one (1) year of experience

Valid and current Texas Driver's License

Valid and current TCLEOSE Certification

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, run, kneel and twist the upper body. Use of a vehicle is required to perform the essential job functions. Incumbent must be able to respond to emergency situations which may include the use of physical force.
