FloodGate Medical
Regional Sales Manager
Arbutus
Arbutus Medical Inc. is a privately held ISO13485 medical device company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Arbutus Medical is developing innovations that streamline surgery for the good of patient care. The company is currently focused on streamlining bedside skeletal traction surgeries in the ER of Trauma Centers through its TrakPak® product line. In addition to TrakPak®, the company distributes a line of surgical drills with DrillCover Technology – an innovation that adapts nonsterile DEWALT® drills for use in surgery – at accessible price points to customers around the globe. Arbutus Medical’s products have regulatory clearances from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Health Canada, and have been used by partners in 40 countries, enabling an estimated 109,000 surgeries to date.
Why You Should Join Us This is a Regional Sales Manager role in the West. This is a 16-person team seeking a Regional Sales Manager to own sales in the West Region, including the following states: WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, MT, WY, UT, CO, AZ, AK. Focused on the Level I TCs found within these States.
What You’ll Do
Own revenue quota for the region and own the plan to achieve that quota
Hunt, contract, build relationships with, train, and manage individual 1099’s at target Level I TCs
The 1099 reps own their local customer relationships (these are their accounts and their surgeons), but you own and lead every deal. All strategic communication, pricing, contracting, and deal progression are directed by you. The 1099s stay in the loop (CC’d on emails, invited to key calls/meetings) and provide local support, access, and execution help.
This is a hybrid model: the reps keep their independence and relationships, but you are the single point of control to protect pricing, messaging, and speed, ensuring the company’s unique sales process is executed consistently.
Identify opportunities to generate referrals to new independent sales reps
Identify opportunities to pursue sales and contracting at the health system level
Oversee limited product releases for new products within a list of accounts
Build relationships with key opinion leaders and residents at a target list of key accounts, recommending additions to the company’s advisory board where appropriate
Identify opportunities to leverage successfully converted key accounts to generate referrals for your teammates in other regions
Lead product implementations and build relationships with key hospital personnel
Help execute resident training when new Interns turnover each June/July, supporting Arbutus Medical’s Clinical Training Team
You’ll sell first, prove you can crush, then we will build a team around you.
What You’ll Need
Table stakes
You are an Orthopedic med device rep (bonus points for selling upper extremity)
Valid driver’s license
Willing to travel 70% of the time and ideally located within 30 minutes of an International Airport
Track record of making or exceeding quota
You already know the major IDNs in the region
You are plugged into 1099 rep networks
Bridge-builder between two worlds
You’re excited about pushing surgery beyond the traditional OR. This is real category creation in a wide-open space, not a traditional innovation sold through existing paths. You will be a unique rep at the tip of the spear carving out a new path
You already speak fluent Ortho surgeon, but you're eager to immerse yourself in the ED world.
You embrace learning their language and pressures (efficiency, throughput) so you can connect these departments around a common goal
Mindset & Approach
First-principles thinker: You want to build something from nothing, use the full range of your skills, and attack huge challenges with a true entrepreneurial edge
Cold accounts, relatively unknown brand, no guaranteed contract access... that gets you fired up, not frustrated
You are built for ambiguity and hard work. No thick playbook or big team to lean on at the start
Quick learner with high horsepower: You master complex clinical and technical details fast, become the go-to product expert
Execution
You can zoom out to plan an entire territory, prioritize the right targets, then zoom in and execute every day
You read people and rooms well, listen more than you talk, and adjust on the fly
Spreadsheets are second nature, you live by the numbers, and adopt tools (including AI) to work faster and smarter
Location
Prefer candidates based out of Southern CA, Denver or Phoenix. Open to candidates anywhere in the region if near major airport.
Region: WA, OR, CA, NV, ID, MT, WY, UT, CO, AZ, AK
Perks of the Job Compensation:
Base: $140-150K
OTE $230 - $250K (uncapped), may be flex based on relationships and experience.
Extended health benefits
Equity stake in a fast-growing venture
Professional development funding
An exciting opportunity to get in at the ground floor of a growing venture
A purpose-driven workplace, with passionate teammates who want to help patients and make a positive difference in the world
