Serves as a technical theater subject matter expert that supports engagement and retention of students through student employment, appropriate facilities management, and maintaining an environment that reflects our university's values. The Production Coordinator provides full-cycle support (from inquiry to post-event recap) for campus colleagues and others interested in using the Maxwell Theatre. The coordinator advances and implements all technical aspects of performances, lectures and rehearsals, including sound, lighting, projection, video/audio recording, streaming, set-build/strike, load-in, and load-out. Presenters include the Maxwell Theatre and other University departments/units, student organizations and rental clients. The Coordinator will work independently with little or no supervision. The work schedule varies greatly, guided by the theater production schedule and will include days, evenings and weekends, with strict deadlines and possible interruptions. Responsibilities
TECHNICAL SUPPORT: Manage all aspects of technical support for events on a day-to-day basis, including staff supervision and hands-on operation. Lighting, projection, recording (audio/video) and streaming, and physical layout/structures, including rigging. Space preparation and restoration, to include clean-up. All other technical aspects of production. Maintain inventory of all theatrical equipment and supplies. Stay up to date with new and emerging stage and presentation technologies. SUPERVISION: Direct supervisor of student technical staff, including hiring, time-keeping, scheduling, promotions, discipline and termination. Technical theater training including rigging, aerial-lift, and chain hoist. Ongoing skills development and evaluations. Ensure technical student staff completes University mandated training. Provide functional supervision over front of house student staff in absence of professional front of house management. Provide functional supervision over hired-in or temporary technical crews as assigned and/or in absence of Production Manager. ADVANCE SCHEDULED EVENTS: Post-event reporting and data gathering. Production meetings and communication. Work with event presenters to develop and curate media. Facilitate event planning, staffing, post-event follow-up and data collection. MAINTAIN SAFETY: Exercise independent decision making about risk management and event safety. Ensure compliance with University policies and all local, state, and federal codes including fire safety, workplace safety, facilities, and equipment safety. Ensure Maxwell Theatre safety training is completed by technical staff. Assist with inspection, repair and preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure safe operation. DEPARTMENT PARTICIPATION: Collaborate with Maxwell Theatre, Division of Enrollment and Student Affairs, and Augusta University teams. Participate in departmental meetings, assist with planning, purchasing, and researching equipment and improvements; coordinate with contractors as needed. PLANNING: Assist in day-to-day calendar planning and implementation. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least one year of experience in a multi-use venue with plays, concerts, lectures and other types of events. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Skills: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills. Demonstrated commitment to operations that support the campus community. Abilities: Maintain confidentiality. Build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Advise, teach, and coach university students. Supervise student staff. Collaborate with various university departments, faculty, staff, student organizations, and outside organizations. Relate with people confidently. Handle stressful situations professionally. Adjust work schedule to support Maxwell Theatre programs with on-site participation. Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; M-F (occasional work outside normal hours) Pay Band: B8 Salary: $45,400 - $50,000 annually Benefits include health/dental/life insurance, retirement plans, vacation, sick leave, and holidays; Tuition Assistance Program eligibility after 6 months of employment How To Apply
