About the Position As a Supported Living Specialist, you would provide one‑on‑one support for adults with developmental disabilities in their homes and communities. Your goal would be to offer respectful, person‑centered services that enable our clients to participate in all aspects of their community and lead meaningful lives centered around independence and empowerment. Working with the SLS management team, you would provide as‑needed coverage across Alameda County to a variety of clients with varying support needs.
This role includes using your organizational and critical‑thinking skills to answer our Emergency Cell Phone, arrange staff coverage, and directly respond to cover shifts with clients.
Work Schedule
This is a full‑time position working 5 days per week at 40 hours per week with occasional opportunities for overtime.
This role requires open availability 7 days a week; you would only work 5 out of the 7 days.
You would need to travel throughout Alameda County, using your own vehicle.
Shift coverage varies (day, evening, overnight, weekends). The Specialist schedule will change every week based on support needs and open shifts.
Compensation
$28.62 per hour.
Stipends: $75 on weekdays for holding the Emergency Cell Phone for 24 hour periods, and $125 on weekend days.
Supporting Clients With
Accessing community activities, such as volunteering, classes, etc.
Activities of daily living support
Planning with friends and families
Emotional support and companionship
Meal planning and cooking meals
Grocery shopping and other errands
Light cleaning around their homes
Personal and intimate care (toileting)
Wheelchair lifts and transfers
Who are we looking for?
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience in the field of human services preferred.
Understanding and commitment to the philosophy of inclusion, access, and consumer‑driven services.
Ability to work cooperatively with consumers, their support systems, coworkers, employers, and other agencies.
Ability to solve problems independently and as part of a team.
Must possess a valid California driver’s license, a driving record that meets agency standards, auto insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.

Employees who work at least 30 hours per week for a governmental, 501(c)(3) nonprofit, or other qualifying nonprofit organization may apply to have the balance of their student loans forgiven (tax‑free) after making 120 monthly payments.
