Summary Provides senior-level leadership and strategic direction for all aspects of the university band program. Establishes long-term vision, strategic priorities, and organizational goals for program excellence and growth. Develops, mentors, and leads a high-performing team including associate directors, administrative staff, and contracted coaches. Delegates operational, instructional, and creative responsibilities while maintaining oversight and providing strategic guidance. Designs, directs, and oversees all aspects of marching band and concert band programs including curriculum, performances, recruitment, and community engagement. Manages comprehensive program operations including budgets, personnel, facilities, and university relations. Represents the band program at university committees and in external professional and developmental community contexts.

Senior-level strategic planning and program development capabilities.
Demonstrated success in building, leading, and mentoring high-performing teams.
Advanced expertise in marching band design, instruction, and performance.
Comprehensive knowledge of instrumental music education pedagogy and curriculum development.
Excellent conducting, rehearsal, and performance skills.
Advanced budget management and financial planning capabilities.
Superior organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Experience with fundraising, donor relations, and program development.
Ability to represent the program professionally at executive and external levels.
Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.
Ability to work evenings and weekends, and travel as needed.
Required Education And/or Experience
Master's Degree in Music, Music Education, or related field.
Seven years of progressive experience in collegiate band programs, including significant leadership and program management experience.
Demonstrated success in program leadership, strategic planning, and team development.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree (DMA, PhD) in Music, Music Education, or related field.
Ten or more years of collegiate band directing experience.
Track record of program growth, innovation, and national recognition.
Published research, presentations, or significant contributions to the field.
Experience with successful major fundraising campaigns.
Knowledge of New Orleans musical traditions and cultural context.
