By emphasizing ONE Park, ONE Mission, One Team, the Commercial Relationship Officer builds and manages member relationships to meet their commercial lending and deposit needs in the designated market while driving credit union growth. This role involves originating, monitoring, and renewing loan and deposit relationships, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The officer actively participates in community events, prepares loan proposals, monitors portfolio performance, and identifies potential credit risks. Additionally, this position cross‑sells credit union products, supports member service needs, and collaborates with staff and management to achieve organizational objectives.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Collect, review, and analyze financial and related data to determine if the loan request, member, and/or collateral meet credit union standards. Prepare and submit loan request narrative. Establish and negotiate the terms under which the loan will be made to include rate, fees, term, and loan structure. Grow deposits in accordance with credit union’s budget. Work with processing staff on all third‑party order requests. Review all documentation generated for closing to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Actively work to grow credit union member business lending presence, building relationships within the market, professional groups, select employee groups, and credit union staff. Participate in credit union community development or education events providing commercial lending expertise. Prepare for member sales calls, make sales calls and provide call follow‑up. Create and deliver loan proposals to members.

Monitor the performance of the existing loan portfolio, follow‑up with past‑due loans, proactively work on maturing loans. Recognize potential problem credits and bring them to the attention of management. Assist in gathering required documentation for annual reviews and other loan covenant monitoring. Monitor and enhance the profitability on all assigned relationships. Work other reports as needed.

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of regulations, rules, policies and procedures governing all classes of loans with a focus on Commercial Lending. Advise manager of any changes that may affect credit union processes to limit risk or loss.

Maintain knowledge of credit union products and services and look for cross‑sell opportunities that benefit the member’s financial needs. Cross‑sell services such as business checking products and refer business or property owners to the branches for consumer deposit and loan products. Provide service as required by the member’s availability, including appointments or follow‑up outside of traditional business hours.

Perform other duties as assigned.

To originate new commercial loan volume as established by credit union goals.

To prepare loan request narrative within 3 days of receipt of all documents/loan information.

To return all calls within 2 hours of receipt.

To cross‑sell credit union products and services.

To maintain working knowledge of all business products and rates, both within the credit union and from the industry overall.

To follow the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act and anti‑money laundering policies and procedures, including running OFAC searches, completing investigative reports of suspicious activity and currency transaction reports timely and without error.

To maintain a professional work environment, promote teamwork, build respect among coworkers and present a businesslike appearance.

To follow all security policies and procedures and report discrepancies or suspicious activity to manager immediately.

Knowledge and Skills: Experience:

Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education:

(1) A two‑year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job‑specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills:

Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.

Other Skills:

Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.
