What You’ll Do Are you energized by creating memorable, high-impact experiences that bring people together and strengthen organizational culture? As the

Travel, Meetings & Events Specialist , you’ll lead the assessment, planning, and execution of internal and external events across our Boston, New York, and Washington, DC offices, with additional firmwide support as needed. Sitting within a collaborative network that includes Recruiting, Talent, Business Development, and other internal partners, you’ll design and deliver a wide range of programs—from summer associate events to partner dinners, client gatherings, office celebrations, and more. You’ll manage events from concept through completion, establish best practices, and ensure seamless logistics that reflect our standards of excellence. This role requires strong independence, follow‑through, and the ability to build trusted relationships with attorneys, staff, and external partners.

Lead Event Strategy & Planning

– Partner with internal stakeholders to define event goals, content, and logistics while driving innovative, engaging experiences.

Manage End‑to‑End Event Logistics

– Oversee all event elements, including food and beverage, décor, entertainment, audio‑visual needs, technology, transportation, and related requirements.

Cultivate Vendor & Partner Relationships

– Build strong, solution‑focused relationships with external suppliers to ensure the firm’s needs are consistently met.

Drive Site Selection & Contracting

– Conduct venue research, develop RFPs, negotiate contracts, and support risk mitigation across agreements.

Oversee Budgeting & Cost Management

– Prepare cost estimates, manage expenses, and complete post‑event financial reporting to identify savings opportunities.

Create Attendee Communications

– Develop and distribute clear, timely event communications that help ensure an exceptional participant experience.

Prepare Event Materials

– Coordinate signage, agendas, attendee lists, and other collateral required for successful program delivery.

Conduct Event Research & Recommendations

– Identify trends, opportunities, and best practices to elevate office events and firmwide programming.

Execute Registration & Tracking

– Manage pre‑ and post‑event registration processes, including attendee tracking and reporting through CVENT when applicable.

Deliver Post‑Event Reporting

– Produce final attendance numbers, cost summaries, and additional event analytics for stakeholder review.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree; with 8+ years of experience in event planning.

Professional Credentials

– Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) or Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) preferred.

Analytical & Problem‑Solving Skills

– Ability to identify risks, resolve challenges with diplomacy, and maintain composure under pressure.

Collaboration & Communication

– Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate across diverse stakeholders.

Project Management Excellence

– Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects, meet competing deadlines, negotiate contracts, and reduce liability and cost.

Industry Knowledge

– Familiarity with hotel, hospitality, and travel industries, including meeting management standards and hotel operations.

Technical Skills

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CVENT.

Compensation The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position in New York City. This range may differ based on your geographic location and cost of living considerations. At Kirkland & Ellis, we consider compensation more than just a base salary. New York City: $95,000 – $116,000
