Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Program Manager – Resource Development and Transportation Program, the Resource Specialist bears the major responsibility for the coordination of activities designed to develop new and innovative resources; develops new service providers and identifies service gaps in the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate area‑wide program development activities in conjunction with the agency's resource development plans.
Act as a resource to staff and vendors regarding the development of new resources.
Assist vendors in the vendorization process, including reviewing and making constructive recommendations on new proposals, program descriptions, program sites, and cost statements.
Assist in identifying and developing resources for the agency’s placement efforts.
Act as a consultant to vendors regarding basic services, programming, and record keeping; provide or coordinate educational opportunities or consultation for service providers to improve services.
Participate in monthly meetings with licensing authorities, vendors, and public meetings related to agency’s resource development.
Maintain a current knowledge base in statute and regulations as it applies to the provision of residential services and non‑residential services; suggest appropriate modifications to agency service standards and forms, as needed.
Provide technical assistance and excellent customer service to potential vendors during review of new proposals, program descriptions, program sites and cost statements.
Provide orientation and ongoing staff development for staff as requested.
Provide public information and education.
Work cooperatively and effectively with others; perform as a member of the team, answer questions, share expertise and contribute to the harmony of the team.
Use office equipment appropriately and report the need for any repairs; keep work area neat and orderly; observe all safety rules and comply with IRC’s Injury and Illness Prevention Plan and Workplace Violence Prevention Plan.
Ability to handle a hybrid work environment consisting of working in the office and remotely at home while maintaining work productivity and efficiency; communicate via telephone calls, video conference calls, emails, and chat rooms.
Handle change well and be flexible and adaptable in dealing with interruptions, new priorities and new assignments.
Maintain good attendance and punctuality.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Keep manager informed of pending work, work in progress, and problems encountered.
Utilize agency’s IT systems as assigned, maintaining security and following agency’s protocol and procedures, rules, and requirements.
Attend training sessions as required.
Comply with and ensure program compliance with agency’s Personnel Policies and Procedures.
Assure that consumers’ rights and dignity are maintained in the provision of services.
Maintain a good driving record.
Perform different or additional work as assigned.
Minimum Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or a related field.
One year of experience in developmental disabilities or a related field.
Case management experience with developmental disability population is highly desirable.
Full use of an automobile, possession of a valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance in the minimum amount prescribed by law, or ability to provide for independent transportation.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Bilingual preferred.
