Job Overview The Assistant Banquet Manager will lead the Banquets Department, ensuring functions are properly set up and executed while maintaining high standards of service and efficiency. This role offers an opportunity to advance within a renowned hospitality company.
Job Description Key responsibilities include supervising the banquet team, coordinating with catering, engineering, and foodservice, and maintaining guest satisfaction through effective delegation and quality control.
Responsibilities
Maintain a balance between floor supervision, administration, associate training, and group communication.
Assist in overseeing the operation of the Banquet department.
Determine set‑ups in conjunction with the Director of Catering.
Coordinate functions with service staff, chef, and head steward.
Ensure guest satisfaction through effective supervision, delegation, food‑quality checks, and courteous performance of the entire banquet staff.
Coordinate with the Stewarding Department to recover leftover food quickly and minimize waste.
Brief waiters on functions and service procedures, ensuring all associates have the tools necessary to perform their jobs successfully.
Establish and maintain high standards of quality service through effective training and continuous improvement.
Assist in maintaining records, reports, closing reports, and payroll costs.
Inspect function rooms and write work orders for the Engineering Department to maintain rooms in excellent condition.
React to business fluctuations by appropriately increasing or decreasing staffing levels.
Control loss, breakages—especially related to china, glass, silver, and linen—for the department.
Maximize profits through effective management techniques while keeping guest satisfaction in mind.
Stay updated on new food and wine trends and set a positive example for a successful quality operation.
Ensure that all associates wear appropriate uniforms and attire for their scheduled shifts.
Prepare for and conduct departmental meetings.
Use Synergy and Epitome reports to relay guest concerns to other departments.
Assist with interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work of banquet staff.
Assist with evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining banquet staff.
Assist with forecasting weekly labor and scheduling, according to hotel occupancy and business levels.
Assist with administering department payroll to ensure associates are paid correctly and on time.
Champion the Omni / Power of Once culture.
Qualifications
Minimum two years of banquet management or supervisory experience, preferably in a hotel setting. Some college is preferred.
Exceptional people skills and leadership ability.
Detail‑oriented and able to perform professionally under high levels of stress.
Excellent verbal and written communication in English with guests, members, management, and co‑workers.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must hold and maintain Food Handlers and TIPS certifications.
