We are seeking ideal candidates for the Farm Manager Trainee position who have a strong knowledge of farming, are self‑started, and highly driven. The primary responsibility is to provide leadership and direction in production and maintenance operations to ensure timely, cost‑efficient production. The role involves day‑to‑day supervision of the team to achieve all aspects of poultry farm production, including competitive performance, budgeting, planning, scheduling, and maintaining compliance with local, county, state, and federal regulations.
Job Description This is a trainee position that includes a 6‑8 month training process. Applicants are not allowed to own any kind of birds due to the risk of possible disease transmission.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily farm operations, including egg or chick production, feed and water systems, environmental controls, and equipment functionality.
Ensure proper collection, handling, and storage of eggs or birds in accordance with quality standards.
Coordinate farm set‑up, clean‑out procedures, and long‑term production planning.
Lead, train, schedule, and evaluate farm employees to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Approve timecards, conduct employee evaluations, and implement disciplinary actions as needed.
Participate in and lead monthly base meetings and safety briefings.
Monitor flock health, mortality, weight gain, feed consumption, and water intake.
Enforce and maintain animal welfare protocols, vaccination schedules, and environmental standards.
Document chick/bird movements in and out of the facility per company protocols.
Implement and enforce biosecurity protocols, including pest control, facility access, and sanitation measures.
Maintain compliance with all ISO, animal welfare, and company‑specific guidelines.
Participate in audits, inspections, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Inspect and maintain facility systems (ventilation, feeders, lighting, etc.).
Submit and follow up on maintenance work orders.
Manage cooler operations and temperature monitoring.
Maintain accurate records on mortality, egg counts, feed, vaccinations, inventory, and water quality.
Submit weekly and daily reports, body weights, and performance tracking spreadsheets.
Utilize software tools (e.g., BIM, MTech, MS Excel) to manage flock and production data.
Communicate effectively with internal teams (e.g., logistics, maintenance, mobile crews).
Support mobile teams and assist with farm opening/closing as needed.
Coordinate replacement scheduling for male and female flocks.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field preferred.
Knowledge of poultry husbandry, biosecurity, and production cycles.
Basic math, reasoning, and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, farm management software).
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and be on‑call 24/7.
Forklift training, OSHA 10, Lock‑Out Tag‑Out certifications preferred.
Physically able to work in varying environmental conditions and perform manual labor as needed.
Required to participate in weekly personal swab testing for Salmonella monitoring in accordance with pedigree biosecurity standards.
Working Conditions
Exposure to live animals, dust, ammonia, and farm chemicals.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and compliance with all biosecurity rules is mandatory.
Location & Salary Crossville, TN - $42,000.00-$52,000.00
