Overview
Housing Specialist - Beaver Pond role at Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC). Responsibilities
Manage all aspects of an assigned caseload, including meeting with clients regularly and ensuring that clinical files and reports are complete and up to date. Engage clients with a client-centered approach and provide services and referrals to address housing needs of individuals experiencing homelessness. Track trends in housing placements and orient clients with the housing group. Secure entitlements; maintain correspondence related to housing interviews and vacancies; assist clients to coordinate their move with landlords and internal/external agencies. Serve as a liaison with DHS and other providers to facilitate the housing process for clients. Provide housing retention services once clients have been placed. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case conferences. Provide emergency first aid/CPR assistance when needed. Related duties as assigned. Hours
Full-time 37.5 hours per week. Tuesday-Saturday 10am-6:30pm (Thursday 12pm-8:30pm). Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Significant experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and with securing entitlements and housing; knowledge of mental illness and substance use helpful. Demonstrated writing, communication and group facilitation skills. Bilingual abilities a plus. Proficiency in MS Office (Word and Excel). CPR training certification or willingness to complete CPR certification. Benefits
