Who We Are Mission Communications introduced the first cellular‑managed SCADA solution to the water and wastewater industries nearly two decades ago. The company serves more than 2,800 utilities across the U.S. and Canada and is known as an established monitoring technology innovator. Mission Communications offers highly reliable solutions for pump stations, lift stations, manholes, tank and well control, and lake and river level monitoring. Standardized field hardware, national cellular data networks, centralized servers, advanced alarming functions, and web‑based SCADA software are combined into a single, low‑cost solution with a predictable cost of ownership.
Job Summary We’re seeking a Regional Sales Manager with a strong background in technical sales and a passion for the water and wastewater industry. In this role, you’ll build and manage relationships with independent sales reps, support customers with advanced SCADA solutions, and drive growth by presenting and training both virtually and in‑person. Experience with SCADA systems, PLCs, RTUs, and flow measurement devices is highly preferred.
Clients are located primarily in AZ, CO, NM, or TX.
Key Responsibilities
Manage sales channel activities including sales targets, promotion activities, digital marketing, and training.
Supervise independent sales reps within the defined region and, when necessary, directly manage some salespeople.
Perform product demonstrations and training presentations to customers both virtually and in‑person.
Provide direction and guidance to inside sales and customer service staff on specific customer issues.
Collaborate with independent sales reps to meet annual sales goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
Maintain technical proficiency with all Mission products and stay current on new releases.
Develop and maintain relationships at customer production locations to manage orders and logistics.
Work with reps to develop relationships with consulting engineering firms for product specifications.
Build relationships with current and prospective customers to position Mission as their preferred brand of flow and energy measurement products.
Support regional trade shows and factory training events as required.
Provide direct support for high‑profile projects and technical service issues as needed.
Maintain up‑to‑date reporting of sales activities and track/report on large, long‑term projects.
Share market intelligence and customer insights with the team and management to inform strategy and product development.
Capture the voice of the customer to influence the product roadmap.
Stay current on competitor offerings and contribute to competitive analysis.
Provide meaningful input on company sales strategy, product development, and marketing.
Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Travel 30–55% overnight; minimum 7–8 days per month in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred in electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, marketing, etc.
7–10 years of experience in outside sales management within a technical, consultative selling environment.
Experience in water/wastewater is a plus but not required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation and training skills.
Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas processes and general instrumentation.
Familiarity with commissioning of automation equipment.
Experience with analog signals, Modbus communications, digital I/O, and HART communications.
Familiarity with commissioning instruments such as PLCs, RTUs, radar, and flow devices.
Intermediate skillset with Microsoft 365 (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
Experience with ERP and CRM platforms such as Epicor and Salesforce.
Self‑motivated and able to work independently to achieve goals.
Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Able to sit and/or stand for extended periods; lift and carry up to 20 lbs, bend, reach, squat.
Visual Demands: Must be able to look at a computer monitor for extended periods.
Manufacturing Environment: May involve exposure to machinery, noise, and other industrial conditions.
