DoorDash
Regional Merchant Lead, New Verticals
DoorDash
is looking for a dynamic, field‑sales professional to expand our Business through key new verticals such as Grocery, Convenience, Liquor, Retail, and Flowers. This role requires a self‑driven leader, comfortable working in high‑velocity environments, and able to build and nurture relationships with local merchants across the U.S.
About The Team The New Verticals team redefines local commerce by extending DoorDash’s platform beyond restaurants. We partner with standout regional merchants, help them grow, and bring fresh categories to our marketplace. Stationed regionally, we move fast, think creatively, and lead the charge in developing new categories across the country.
About The Role As a Regional Merchant Lead (Outside Sales Representative), you will own the full sales cycle for bringing new non‑restaurant partners onto DoorDash. The role is intrinsically field‑based, with 50% or more of your time in‑field meeting with merchants. Your key responsibilities include:
Opening and closing deals with high‑potential merchants by showcasing DoorDash’s full suite of services (Marketplace, POS Integrations, and more).
Applying product knowledge to solve merchant pain points and win multi‑product solutions.
Leading complex negotiations to structure mutually beneficial economic terms.
Managing a fast‑paced sales cycle to close deals within weeks.
Bringing structure to emerging opportunities and helping shape new business lines.
Collaborating cross‑functionally with strategic partners (Sales Managers, Partner Management, Strategy, Drive, POS, Marketing) to maximize account value.
Travelling into different markets and spending 50%+ of your time in the field.
We’re Excited About You Because You Have…
2+ years of experience in a closing sales role, preferably in field sales or outside sales.
The ability to thrive in a strategic, complex deal cycle and close multi‑product solution sales.
Consistently exceeded KPIs and sales targets through disciplined activity and strong execution.
Clear discovery, strong communication, and a merchant‑first mindset.
Adaptability to fast‑changing environments and a passion for new challenges.
Creative and resourceful outreach tactics to open doors and engage prospects.
Comfort navigating ambiguity and creating structure where none exists.
Traveling 50%+ of the time, including overnight stays.
Compensation Base salary is localized according to employee work location. Total on‑target earnings (base + commissions) for this position in the United States, including Illinois and Colorado, range from USD 44,400 to 74,600.
