Responsibilities

Handle multi-state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations as part of EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review COE.

Build and apply your knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries.

Collaborate in a highly connected, mentor-led environment to deliver up-to-date tax advice to clients.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Researching clients’ business operations and building long-lasting relationships

Identifying applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions

Identifying potential overpayment opportunities or risks and communicating these to clients

Monitoring current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor

Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries

Preparing and defending sales and use tax refund claims

Participating on and, where applicable, leading a motivated team of professionals

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related discipline

Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools

Experience managing budgets, people and projects

Proven track record in a professional services or tax organization

Technical writing and research experience in a tax context

Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects

Strong influencing skills and the confidence to question existing processes

Willingness to travel as needed and a balanced hybrid work environment

You’ll also have

An achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or be a member of a state bar

What We Offer You

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $105,100 to $192,600. In NYC Metro Area, WA, and CA (excluding Sacramento) the range is $126,100 to $218,900. Salaries are determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. Total Rewards includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and paid time off options.

Hybrid model with most client-facing roles working in person 40-60% of the time over a project or year.

Flexible vacation policy and time off for EY holidays, breaks, personal/family care, and other leaves as needed.
