people. As a Meter Reader, you'll join a collaborative team ensuring that our clients can deliver their services

uninterrupted. Based in The Villages, FL, you'll have the opportunity to perform a variety of tasks to include accurately reading and recording meter readings on an assigned route and record the readings on electronic meter reading devices. Additional responsibilities include: Inspects meters and connections for defect or damage. Reports irregularities to Lead. Report meter locations that are hazardous or difficult to read or maintain to Lead so that condition can be remedied. Rechecks readings when there have been complaints of readings that appear to be inaccurate. Explains and interprets unusual readings to customer. Responds to customer inquiries and complaints and refers, when necessary, to other appropriate staff. Turns water meters on and off. Performs other related work as directed, such as painting, valve turning, water line flushing, water sample collection. Adheres to district safety practices and procedures. Documents safety hazards such as broken lids, raised or lowered boxes, damaged, scratched, fogged, or broken lenses, and removed meter heads; Proper environmental attire will be required. Able to make routine mathematical calculations rapidly and accurately. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and mobile phone applications. Ability to work outdoors throughout the day, in all weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. Ability to walk long distances. Repetitive motions include sitting, standing, stooping and lifting. Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds from floor level to waist height, wearing and using appropriate safety equipment. Must have vision sufficient to service equipment and have hearing in the normal range with or without correction. Working Conditions: Safety is a core value at Jacobs. Posted Salary Range: Minimum $33,280.00 to $47,840.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
