Director of Operations (DOO) Security Guard Company Role Overview The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational performance of the security guard company. This role ensures all contracts are executed efficiently, security personnel are properly deployed and supervised, and operations comply with client requirements, company policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

Core Responsibilities & Tasks Operational Oversight

Direct and manage daily security operations across all client sites

Ensure adequate staffing levels for all contracts and assignments

Monitor shift coverage, scheduling, and deployment of security personnel

Address operational challenges, incidents, and emergency responses in real time

Ensure continuity of operations during absences, emergencies, or high-risk events

Personnel Management & Supervision

Supervise Operations Managers, Field Supervisors, and Site Supervisors

Ensure guards are properly trained, licensed, and compliant with post orders

Conduct performance evaluations and corrective actions when necessary

Oversee disciplinary actions in coordination with HR and senior leadership

Promote professionalism, accountability, and adherence to company standards

Client Relations & Contract Management

Serve as primary operational point of contact for key clients

Ensure contractual obligations and service-level agreements (SLAs) are met

Participate in client meetings, inspections, and operational reviews

Respond promptly to client concerns, complaints, and service requests

Support client retention efforts and assist with contract renewals

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and regulatory agencies

Monitor guard certifications, training records, and background clearances

Ensure adherence to labor laws, wage requirements, and union agreements (if applicable)

Maintain readiness for audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews

Implement and enforce company policies, SOPs, and post orders

Training & Quality Assurance

Oversee onboarding, training, and continuing education for security personnel

Ensure post-specific training is completed prior to deployment

Conduct site audits and post inspections to ensure service quality

Review incident reports, daily activity reports, and use-of-force documentation

Identify trends and implement corrective or preventive measures

Risk Management & Incident Response

Oversee incident management, investigations, and reporting

Ensure proper documentation and timely notification to clients and leadership

Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services when required

Evaluate risks and implement mitigation strategies to reduce liability

Review and improve emergency response procedures and protocols

Scheduling, Payroll & Resource Management

Oversee scheduling processes to minimize overtime and coverage gaps

Coordinate with payroll to ensure accurate timekeeping and billing

Monitor operational costs and labor utilization

Ensure proper use and accountability of uniforms, equipment, and vehicles

Assist in budgeting and cost-control initiatives

Performance Metrics & Reporting

Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to staffing, attendance, incidents, and client satisfaction

Prepare operational reports for executive leadership

Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend improvements

Support strategic planning and company growth initiatives

Collaboration with Executive Leadership

Work closely with the CEO, CAO, HR, and Compliance teams

Support bid proposals and mobilization for new contracts

Assist with expansion planning and operational scalability

Represent operations in executive meetings and strategic discussions

Professional Standards & Company Representation

Uphold the company's mission, values, and professional image

Ensure guards maintain proper appearance, conduct, and demeanor

Lead by example in ethics, leadership, and operational excellence

Represent the company during client visits, inspections, and industry engagements

Qualifications and Experience Required Qualifications

Minimum of

5-10 years

of progressive experience in security operations or law enforcement.

Prior experience managing large-scale security operations or multiple client sites.

Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.

Strong knowledge of security industry regulations, licensing requirements, and best practices.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in scheduling, reporting, and operational management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in government, transportation, port authority, or high-risk security environments.

Experience with union environments or collective bargaining agreements.

Familiarity with RFPs, contract mobilization, and client onboarding.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Ability to respond to emergencies and visit client sites as needed.

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and conduct site inspections for extended periods.
