Director / Pastor of NextGen Ministries Willow Glen Bible Church (WGBC) is seeking a Director or Pastor of NextGen Ministries to lead a unified discipleship pathway for children, students, and families—from birth through 12th grade. The majority of time and energy would be devoted to our middle- and high-school-age students, while also providing vision and direction for our children’s ministry leaders.

The ideal candidate is outgoing and people-oriented, a gifted leader, disciple-maker, communicator, team-builder, and pastor who is passionate about forming the next generation of Christ-followers and equipping parents as the primary disciplers of their children.

This role works collaboratively with staff, elders, volunteers, parents, and the wider WGBC community to cultivate ministries that reflect WGBC’s mission, values, and commitment to spiritual growth, unity, community engagement, and innovation.

Reports to: Senior Pastor, Chris Tenny

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Spiritual Leadership & Ministry Culture

Model a growing relationship with Jesus through daily practices of prayer, Scripture, and spiritual community.

Provide care and discipleship for students, volunteers, and their families with prayer, Scripture, and service.

Ensure theological alignment and unity across all age-specific ministries.

Foster a culture in which students and families know and love one another.

Oversight of All NextGen Ministries (Birth–12th Grade)

Provide a renewed vision and direction for our children’s and youth ministry with potential updates for ministry branding and facility enhancements.

Ensure ministry environments are welcoming, safe, developmentally appropriate, and spiritually formative.

Guide curriculum selection, discipleship strategy, and age-group transitions to create a seamless pathway.

Oversee safety, background checks, incident reporting, and ministry best practices.

Teaching, Programming & Weekly Ministry Execution

Provide sound and relevant biblical teaching for youth services.

Oversee kids’ large-group gatherings, small groups, and discipleship programs.

Lead or supervise planning and execution of Sunday programs, midweek gatherings, camps, retreats, mission trips, and special events.

Encourage creativity, worship, testimony, and engagement with Scripture.

Parent Partnership and Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Care

Recruit, train, support, and shepherd volunteers across all age groups.

Provide regular communication and coaching for volunteers.

Equip parents to disciple their children through 2-3 workshops or seminars each year.

Provide pastoral care and relational connection for parents and families.

Ministry Alignment & Staff Collaboration

Work closely with Senior Pastor, Chris Tenny, to align NextGen ministries with WGBC’s mission and strategies.

Participate in staff meetings, leadership gatherings, and collaborative planning.

Foster active participation of NextGen ministries in church-wide outreach and community service efforts.

Work with administrative staff for ministry budgets, registrations, scheduling, and communication.

Ensure NextGen ministries fit within updated staff structures and vision frameworks.

Community Engagement & Outreach

Lead or support community outreach events for families and provide meaningful follow-up.

Develop partnerships with local organizations that serve children, youth, and families.

Encourage students to participate in community service, mentoring, and relational outreach.

Engage the broader community through innovative and culturally aware strategies.

Pastoral Role (if ordained or with equivalent training and theological education)

Provide pastoral care and support to students, parents, and volunteers.

Participate in preaching, counseling, baptisms, dedications, and pastoral leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS Required

Mature follower of Jesus Christ with a deep love for children, students, and families.

Minimum 3 years of experience leading children’s or youth ministry.

Strong communication, teaching, organizational, and leadership skills.

Ability to recruit, train, and shepherd volunteers.

Ability to manage confidential information.

Alignment with WGBC’s Statement of Faith and leadership.

Ability to lead multiple ministries concurrently.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree required; ministry, education, or child-development preferred.

A seminary degree, a Bible degree, or ordination (completed or in process) is highly valued.

Experience launching or redeveloping NextGen ministry initiatives.

Familiarity with NextGen curriculum frameworks (Orange, Awana, Grow).

Experience in multicultural ministry environments.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Compensation Range

Director (Non-Ordained): $60,000 – $80,000 (annual salary, based on experience)

Pastor (Ordained, Eligible for Housing Allowance): $70,000 – $90,000 (annual salary based on experience, plus housing allowance)
