Overview
Zurich is seeking an experienced Underwriter OR Underwriting Specialist to join our E&S team in Atlanta, GA. This hybrid role offers flexibility and a focus on growth with national wholesalers.
Responsibilities
Proactively seek new account opportunities and manage existing renewal accounts.
Demonstrate specialized knowledge in underwriting excess casualty lines.
Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors.
Contribute to proposal development and proposal completion.
Qualify accounts that meet the organization’s appetite and sound business opportunity.
Make agent/broker/customer and on‑sight calls with a planned and well‑prepared purpose.
Negotiate terms & conditions and close deals.
Cross‑sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
Participate in Sales Team meetings related to assigned brokers and territory.
Engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
Develop strong broker and client networks related to industries underwritten by Business Unit.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area.
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office and time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
Experience working in a team environment.
3 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area.
6 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in underwriting or market facing area.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in claims or underwriting support area.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Salary Salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $125,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Underwriter is $60,000.00 - $95,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
