We are seeking an
Associate Director Special Projects , who will provide high‑level support for the strategic and operational projects in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences. The role will assist in developing administrative priorities related to the KSAS strategic plan and other special projects. The Associate Director of Special Projects will require effective collaboration with both administrative staff and faculty. This role reports to the Assistant Dean for Strategic Initiatives in the KSAS Dean’s office.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Track activities, milestones, deliverables and report out on a routine basis. Works with members of the Dean’s office to help them meet targets and milestones by doing much of the leg work to accomplish them. Work with specialists to define and provide data to leaders based on issues raised.
Utilize knowledge of research paradigms and methods across academic disciplines and operational expertise to develop goals and strategies to achieve those goals.
Develop work plans to achieve assigned goals and organize all activities in support of goals.
Provide technical support for quality improvement activities by using the necessary tools and approaches to improve specific measures of quality.
Organize cross‑functional unit activities in support of goals; including the coordination and facilitation of meetings, knowledgeable of administrative operations in order to develop plans of action.
Integrate quality activities throughout strategic initiatives to support open communication, continuous quality improvement and consistent administrative protocols.
Use professional judgment in handling information based on the situation and is sensitive to individual and organizational concerns.
Collaborate with project administrator(s) and other members of the Dean’s office.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s Degree.
Five years of related project management experience with progressive operational experience, including proficiency in Excel, Power Point and other desktop applications.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
Background in higher education with a strong understanding of institutional processes and policies.
Experience coordinating high‑visibility initiatives, events, and awards programs.
Exhibits exceptional discretion and adaptability, remaining poised and professional in demanding environments.
Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service, creating a positive and professional experience for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and external partners.
