About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity for an experienced, entrepreneurial Director of Property Management to lead and scale our client's growing portfolio of multifamily rental buildings in New York City. With over 500 units and continued expansion on the horizon, this role is ideal for a strategic operator who thrives in fast‑paced environments and knows how to build and implement systems from the ground up. As Director, you’ll oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the portfolio, manage and mentor teams, partner closely with ownership, and collaborate with accounting and maintenance teams to ensure best‑in‑class property performance and resident satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operations for 500+ residential rental units across NYC Lead, mentor, and manage property management and maintenance teams Design and implement scalable systems, policies, and procedures to support a growing portfolio Partner with ownership on budgeting, capital improvements, and strategic growth initiatives Ensure compliance with all NYC regulations and housing standards (HPD, DOB, DHCR, etc.) Work closely with the accounting team to oversee rent collection, delinquencies, reporting, and vendor payments Analyze property performance and identify opportunities to improve NOI Manage vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts Handle escalated resident issues and ensure high standards of customer service Qualifications
Minimum 5–10 years of residential property management experience, with a focus on NYC rentals Proven leadership experience managing staff, systems, and large‑scale operations Deep understanding of NYC building compliance, leasing, rent stabilization, and maintenance protocols Strong financial acumen; comfort reviewing financials, budgets, and reports Tech‑savvy with experience implementing or optimizing property management software Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a lean, growing organization Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills Nice to Have
Experience overseeing in-house accounting or finance functions Familiarity with Yardi, AppFolio, or similar platforms Bilingual (Spanish) a plus Compensation
$120,000 base salary + bonus
