Description The

Group Sales Manager

is responsible for driving group business to Sun Valley Resort by cultivating strong client relationships, securing group room nights, and meeting revenue goals. This role combines proactive sales outreach, strategic account development, and close cross-departmental collaboration to ensure seamless planning and exceptional group experiences. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Achieve group room night goals, revenue goals, and individual booking pace goals

Prospect for new business and track new accounts

Develop accounts (new and existing) by mapping specific business and buying tendencies

Promote awareness to corporate, incentive, and association markets via travel to respective regions in the country, providing presentations and personal sales calls

Create and execute direct sales plans specific to market assignments, including sales blitzes, as well as planning and participation of FAMS

Conduct property tours to potential group planners and potential customers; entertain clients during site inspections, pre-planning trips, and program operation when appropriate

Serve as a group sales liaison with key departments such as Conference Services, Operations, and other internal customers, as appropriate, to ensure all group needs are met and executed according to clients' needs

Coordinate all sales-related activity through the direction of the Director of Sales; negotiate contract specifics to achieve maximum profitability while satisfying customer needs

Conduct all sales-related interactions with the highest level of professionalism while maintaining specified Sun Valley Company standards

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: College degree in business, hospitality, or related field preferred

Hotel sales experience strongly preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Experience with or ability to learn OPERA or Delphi

Ability to adapt to policy, procedures, or work environment changes easily and willingly

Knowledge of local and regional competition is helpful

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities

Skiing or snowboarding experience is preferred

Ability to engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching

Capable of safely lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds

Able to remain focused in an office environment for extended periods of time

Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
