As the Director of Project Management, you will lead a team of professionals providing preconstruction planning, estimating, strategy and contract oversight for utility scale solar, and battery energy storage projects. This position will oversee all aspects of planning, scheduling, and budgets from preconstruction to final completion across the EPC portfolio. You will be responsible for strategic direction, business development, project delivery, profitability, and client management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure implementation of expectations, direction, and vision, as it aligns with organizational strategy

Oversee and direct a team of project management professionals

Provide guidance and input to Project Management on all aspects of project execution including schedule management, financial forecasting, prime contract compliance, progress reporting, client, and community relations, etc.

Provide input on project documentation related to contract administration, schedule, and budgets

Prioritize key activities on projects across the company portfolio in various stages from design through closeout

Experience within renewable energy, general contracting, or commercial construction

Detailed oriented, analytical, organized, able to meet established deadlines, strong communication skills, and works well in pressure-type situations

Use expertise to course correct and guide challenges to resolution.

Work with Construction Management to define project baseline, scope, resource allocation, and deliverables.

Collaborates closely with the Engineering and Procurement teams to define and refine scopes and prepare and manage BOP/BOS RFP processes for solar and battery energy storage systems

Coordinate with other department heads and senior management to ensure projects are properly designed, planned, and completed

Assembles presentation materials and reports for Senior Management on the status and risks for projects

Communicate project progress and challenges to Executive Management in a concise, fact-driven way.

Proactively direct project scope, identify critical variables and devise contingency plans.

Mentor Project Management on productivity, honoring commitments, and driving projects to completion

Leads the collaboration with PMO and other stakeholders to ensure buy-in and the development of processes and standards that meet organizational needs.

Drive safety culture by implementing safety improvement program plans, practices, and objectives in coordination with Health and Safety team

Ensure all employees follow safe practices

Responsible for environmental compliance on all projects

Support development of Safety Management Systems, Quality Management Systems and Environment Management Systems

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Provide daily leadership to a staff of Project Managers responsible for planning and execution of projects

Advances corporate strategic direction by establishing goals for the PM group and hosting lessons learned for continuous improvement

Align personal and team goals to department and company goals

Mentors and trains staff on project control tools to effectively manage project costs, schedules, scopes, change orders and inspires a culture of disciplined attention to detail and frequent contract referencing to support contractor management and generation of management reports

Manage and support employee growth

Provide and facilitate resources to participate in implementation and development of “First Time Right” training initiatives

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Minimum 10 to 15 years Solar Construction Experience including a minimum of 5 years P&L responsibility

Engineering Degree or Construction Management Major preferred

PMI/PMP certification · Knowledge of OSHA safety and construction regulations. OSHA 30 certification preferred

Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Project and P6

Experience and proficiency with MS Office including MS Excel and MS Word

Solid knowledge and understanding of key value drivers for renewable power projects and developer/owner/operator company objectives

Strong oral and written communication, project management, leadership, and team-building skills, including experience working with cross-functional internal and external technical advisors and stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, edit, and understand plans and specifications for civil, mechanical, and electrical work

Experience with managing renewable energy construction contracts including change order management and dispute resolution

Experienced with managing and driving project schedules

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

Ability to travel 50% of time or more to project locations

Work is performed primarily in an office environment with some tasks assigned at outdoor solar plant sites.
