What We're Looking For: The

Survey Crew Chief

plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality surveying services by overseeing field operations and guiding team members in the execution of accurate, efficient surveys. In this position, you will support and direct daily field activities, including briefing and debriefing crews, processing field notes and data, retracing or surveying property boundaries, and drafting maps and reports. Working with minimal supervision, you will help prepare final surveys for review and approval by a Registered Land Surveyor. This role is ideal for a skilled survey technician ready to step into a leadership capacity mentoring others, ensuring quality control, and contributing to the successful delivery of surveying projects.

Responsibilities

Assistin performing a subset of tasks for project planning including pricing,planning, estimation, and coordination of tasks for a project.

Contactand communicate with Clients, Project Managers, Surveyors, Geomaticist,Managers, and other stakeholders providing accurate data.

Performfield surveying for various projects and ensure accuracy of data collectedby the field crew.

Performmoderately complex field calculations (such as calculating horizontal andvertical geometry of roadways or for construction stake outs), determineproperty boundaries, retrace and survey boundary lines.

Preparefinished grade sheets, topographic maps, records of survey, cornerrecords, and other survey reports.

Reviewfield data, reports, and maps to ensure proper QA techniques, providefeedback and coaching back to project team.

Conductsite visits ensuring proper QC standards are followed.

Researchexisting record information, including record maps, plans, deeds,easements, and right-of-way documents, and ensure maintenance of fielddata records.

Education & Experience Qualifications:

Two-yeardegree in Engineering Technology, Computer Drafting, Surveying, orequivalent with 7 years of relevant experience, or other relevantcombination of education and/or experience

Skilledin the use of maintenance of survey instruments (GPS, robotics, datacollectors, level rods, etc.)

Experiencedin all aspects of land surveying including boundary surveys, topographicsurveys, construction staking, etc. with the ability to read and interpretvarious types of construction and property documents

Abilityto effectively instruct, direct, and lead others in the field

Abilityto read and interpret plats, deeds, easements, and plans

Knowledgeof field surveying practices and procedures; building knowledge of officesurveying practices and procedures

Validdriver's license and sufficient driving record

Abilityto work varying schedules

Abilityto travel at times and overnight

Daily work environment includes working out of doors and inrough terrain. Individuals will walk, sit, and stand while operating variousequipment, tools, and machinery. Individuals may need to carry, push, pull, orlift up to 50 lbs. Individuals may need to climb to various elevations andrequires visual acuity sufficient to read alpha/numeric symbols and performcomputation and design.
